The standard we build to

We build to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, which carries forward every requirement of WCAG 2.1 AA — the standard referenced by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, by the ADA Title II web rule, and by most state and local procurement requirements.

This website

www.civiclattice.com meets WCAG 2.2 AA. It uses semantic HTML and landmark regions, a visible keyboard focus indicator throughout, text alternatives for every meaningful image and diagram, a skip link, color contrast checked against AA thresholds for both body and large text, and no information conveyed by color alone. Every control is reachable and operable from the keyboard, targets are sized for touch, anchors clear the fixed header so a focused link is never hidden behind it, and the reduced-motion preference is respected.

The application

Lattice has been designed and tested to conform with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, with WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our engineering target. Navigation, the application shell, and sign-in are built for keyboard and screen-reader use. Every dialog and drawer runs on one pattern that traps focus while it is open, closes on Escape, and returns focus where it came from. Form controls are associated with their labels and related fields are grouped. Data tables carry real table semantics, with sorting, row actions, and scrollable regions all operable from the keyboard. Charts are described to assistive technology rather than left as untitled graphics. Status, priority, and severity are never signalled by color alone.

That work is verified, not assumed. Automated WCAG 2.1 A/AA and 2.2 AA scanning runs against the application's surfaces — sign-in, Monitor, Alignment, Departments, Budget, Reporting, KPIs, Governance, the capital program, Settings, Create, Update, Municipal Home, and the admin console — in both light and dark themes, and reports no contrast failures and no scrollable region a keyboard cannot reach. Reflow is verified at 100%, 200%, and 400% zoom with no page-level horizontal scrolling. The six criteria WCAG 2.2 adds at A and AA — focus not obscured, dragging movements, target size, consistent help, redundant entry, and accessible authentication — all pass. Contrast is asserted in the test suite against the actual color tokens, so it cannot regress quietly.

The Word documents Lattice generates are accessible too — a real heading outline, table headers that repeat across pages, a declared document language, and real lists. The council packet you export is as usable as the screen you exported it from.
